2016-17 Season
After the initial two signings of Redmond and Højbjerg, there were signs of movement, with Gazzaniga going on loan to a Spanish side, a Barcelona player being chased, although he has turned us down before and another midfielder interesting Saints.
The third signing appeared when, as expected, former England U21 goalkeeper, Alex McCarthy signed from Crystal Palace on 1st August. Very shortly after came the news that the fourth signing was French defender Jérémy Pied, who had come on a free transfer, having been released by his previous club Nice, earlier in the summer.
Just before the end of the transfer window Saints broke their transfer record, to bring in the exciting midfielder, Sofiane Boufal from Lille.
