Game 3: Germany 2-1 Sweden

Group F: Germany 2-1 Sweden
Sochi, 23rd June

The game where Germany nearly left the World Cup in the group stages, they cut it very very fine but thanks to a superb Toni Kroos freekick their fate is in their own hands.

Sweden were surprisingly good, all my comments beforehand about why they were there at the World Cup, shows I don't know a damn thing! They were worth their place and indeed in the first half should have been going in 2 goals up rather than the one that they did.

Germany really threw everything they had at Sweden in the 2nd half, watch it though you still couldn't help but think that they looked a shadow of their selves and somehow seemed unable to change that despite having a lot of the ball.

The wondrous free kick minutes before they were about to leave the World Cup ignominiously means they can decide their own fate but, and it's a big but, they've got to turn up to the last game and not only that, they've got to choose the right tactics and deliver on them as well.

Still, we've been here before, Germany looking shaky and then suddenly turning into a global powerhouse (no War jokes), I'm hesitant for this reason to completely write them off in this World Cup but they certainly are not looking like the team I was expecting to see.

They've also got to stop being so bloody obsessed with Kimmich, he's not the answer, especially when 2 out of every 3 of their attacks go through him. Too predictable and he's not as good as they think he is.

Compared to Belgium, who look awesome, they just don't have that cutting edge.
